A hex code is just a color — it's not tied to any paint brand until you match it to one. This tool checks every color we cover for an exact hex match first, and falls back to the closest equivalent by ΔE (a perceptual color-difference score calculated from Lab values) when nothing lines up exactly.

How matching works
We check the hex code against every color in our catalog first. If a brand mixes that exact color, that’s the match — no ΔE involved.
When nothing matches exactly, we rank every brand’s closest color by ΔE. Under 3 is a near-identical match, under 10 is a close equivalent, and above 25 the colors are genuinely different — the same scale used throughout the site.
